It’s not only that the words express exactly how I feel about my two adorable boys—I secretly want to be a braver man.

EXPOSURE OF THE PHOTO WALL ON THE STAIRS
To think that spring has arrived so quickly is beyond me. This year seems to have flown by. Since I haven’t written a blog post since the holidays, I felt it was important to share with you how I’ve been displaying our family photos on the staircase.
PICTURE FRAMES
I looked everywhere for the perfect picture frames to hang on our staircase and show off our wedding photos. I splurged on a piece that can expand with our family. Taking your family portraits? Many of you have suggested using Smallwood’s gallery wall. These are perfect for snapshots, but they shouldn’t be replaced often.
They’re a Texas company run by a kind family, therefore I’ll be keeping my business with them for the foreseeable future. I definitely suggest these if you are at a point in your life where you would want to save those moments forever in a framed wall hanging.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Instead of having canvases hung on the steps, I opted to display real photographs. When we have a family or have professional portraits taken, I can easily get fresh prints made and swap them out. This way, I have some leeway to reimagine their appearance elsewhere if I so want. After looking at several options on Pinterest, Google, and other shopping sites, I settled on these frames from IKEA.
COMMISSION
They include a mat, so there’s no need to commission one online or at an arts and crafts shop. I had the real prints (20 by 30 inches) made at Costco since they were so cheap. The new measurements for the frame, including the matting, are 19 3/4 by 27 1/2 inches. Be aware that some of your photographs may not display with the mat if you had them printed at Costco or a similar company.
