How to Draw a Chameleon: The chameleon is one of nature’s most exciting and unusual animals. Their appearance is quite remarkable, but they also have a nifty trick they use to blend in with their surroundings.Multiple people love chameleons, and because they look so unique, it can be a fun challenge to memorize to draw a chameleon.

How to draw a chameleon? Let’s begin:
Step 1
In this first step of our tutorial on drawing a chameleon, you will use a pencil to draw a chameleon. This is a step where you need to follow the reference image we provided. There are very few details in the drawing, but we will add more as we go through the later stages.
Once you have drawn the map with your pencil, as shown in the reference picture, you can start tracing the face of the chameleon with your pencil. You can see in our example how to get started with this, as the black lines form the pencil lines of the sketch. Once you’re comfortable with the face and body pencil lines, you’re ready for the next stage!
Step 2
We’ll continue to add some outline detail to this part of your chameleon. This time we will focus on the arms of the chameleon. When you move the pencil with your pen, you don’t just trace it. You add details along the way. You can also start drawing the branch holding the chameleon at this stage.
Step 3
In this third step of our tutorial on drawing a chameleon, we will add some details about the inner curvature of the legs and tail. Do the same for the arms of the chameleon. This means you can also add details while drawing lines in pencil. Then you can utilize a curved line for the inner tail loop.
Step 4
In this step, we will finish sketching your chameleon drawing. The middle part of this step will complete the design of the chameleon’s back and the rest of the tail. You will have completed the entire chameleon sketch. You can also complete the drawing of the branch the chameleon is on. Once you’ve completed the plan, we’re ready to add some final details in the next step!
Step 5
This step in our guide on drawing a chameleon is to add the final details before continuing to color. As you can see from our reference image, the main additions are the stripes on the back, detailing on the stomach, and minor aspects like pupils in the eyes. We’ve included those details, but feel free to add additional information!
Perhaps you could Sketch a background to display this chameleon relaxing in the forest or a lovely terrarium. Adding an experience is a beautiful way to set your spin on a design, so be sure to get creative! Once you’ve added all your vivid details and created the background and other elements you want, you can also exterminate the pencil lines from the first step. When erasing pencil lines drawn with a pen, you should always wait until the pen ink is completely dry. Some cells take longer to dry, so some require more patience than others.

When coloring a chameleon drawing, you have a lot of freedom in going about it! Color is a large part of a chameleon’s individuality as they are known to be able to change color to camouflage themselves. In our reference image, we used shades of green to color it since chameleons are usually green in their default state. This is one way to colorize this chameleon drawing! You can even try out creative ideas while coloring.
Maybe he could be half brown and half green to show he blends in with the branch he’s perched on! Once you know what colors to use, you can play with your favorite art mediums and tools. Perhaps you could even use one medium for half of the chameleon and another for the other half to suggest a color transformation.
